About Bayo Hassan Bello

Bayo Hassan Bello is an artist, writer, and curator who examines indigenous knowledge systems and practices through artist books, curated projects, experimental films, and site-specific installations.

In recent years, Bayo has become more interested in time-based works. Last April, he launched an alternative platform for West African creators called EN PLEIN AIR. This platform encourages experimental practices and the production of temporal works (sound, video, performance or digital). The platform aims to initiate cross-cultural collaborations with international artists and creative communities, hence the importance for the project to extend beyond West Africa.

His residency at the Fondation Fiminco will allow him to engage with artistic collectives and communities in Paris, as well as develop EN PLEIN AIR in France. He will also curate Open Studios 3 in May.
