About Ana Navas
Ecuador, Venezuela.1984.
From 2004 to 2010 Ana Navas studied at the Staatliche Akademie der Bildenden Kunste in Karlsruhe, where she was “Meisterschülerin” (MA) with Franz Ackermann. Ana Navas is a multidisciplinary artist, her work deals with processes such as translation, assimilation and appropriation. She questions the art context, and how art can engage with other subjects or cultures like fashion, ethnology and decoration. Between 2012 and 2014 she was a resident at De Ateliers in Amsterdam. This was followed by residencies in Mexico, Colombia, Brazil and France. Her work has been widely exhibited in Latin America and Europe in solo presentations in De Nederlandsche Bank’s Kunstruimte in Amsterdam (2019, The Netherlands), 45 cbm at the Staatliche Kunsthalle Baden Baden (2018, Germany), Stadtgalerie Sindelfingen (2017, Germany), P/////AKT Amsterdam (2016, The Netherlands), CEAAC Strasbourg (2016, France), Abra Caracas (2016, Venezuela), Nixon Mexico City (2016, Mexico) among others.
