About Alain Nsenga
Alain Nsenga is a Congolese artist born in 1986. He lives in Lubumbashi where he works as a graphic designer and a photographer. He studied Design & Multimedia at Ecole Supérieure d’Informatique Salama (ESIS) where he currently teaches. His photographs are a constant quest for originality and authenticity. His encounter with the Picha association and his activities as a graphic designer led him to participate in several workshops and work with the Lubumbashi Biennale team since 2013. In 2019, he is artist in residence at the Wiels – Center d’art contemporain in Brussels and participates in the exhibition Multiples transmissions: Art in the Afripolitan Age. The same year, he participated in the Lubumbashi Biennial and presented the Métamorphose series, which focused on questions of identity, self-assertion and the impact the other’s sight. This series also questions postcolonial beauty research practices.
