Olivia Funes Lastra
Olivia Funes Lastra is a visual artist from Buenos Aires. Her works are transdisciplinary, combining installation, video, text and performance, always through the lens of painting. She explores possible analogies between language, memory and architecture in the experience of linguistic and geographical displacement, and the hybrid identities that emerge from it.
Olivia Funes Lastra graduated from ENSAPC in 2020 and is continuing her initial training with the post-master's Programa de Artistas at UTDT in Buenos Aires. Her work has been shown in institutions, international events and alternative spaces such as Lago Film Fest (2021), FRAC Picardie (2022), DOC! (2023), Casa de Velázquez (2024), Julio artist-run space (2024), the 17th Lyon Biennale (2024), Centro Cultural Las Cigarreras (2025) and Bienalsur (2025), among others.
During her residency at the Fondation Fiminco, Olivia Funes Lastra will develop a new transdisciplinary performance installation that directly addresses the questions that have been implied in her artistic quest since her beginnings: How do we inhabit the space ‘in between’? What does a house on the border look like? How do we belong to the boundary? Experiments with various media converge in a modular installation that unfolds in harmony with diverse contexts (landscapes, interiors), like a travelling architecture, activated by readings, where poetry becomes the material for inhabiting the in-between.
