I Fang Lin

I-Fang Lin is a Taiwanese choreographer and performer.
Her choreographic writing draws on spontaneity and a desire for transmission through rituals and ceremonies. She develops her work in collaboration with numerous French and international artists. Among her creations are En Chinoiseries, Skein Relations, Ban Ping Shan (co-written with Jocelyn Cottencin), CO.M.BAT, and Eclipse, an in-situ performance.

A practitioner of the Feldenkrais method, she teaches and integrates into her performances a physicality that unfolds with full awareness. The precision, sharpness, and organic quality of her work reveal the body in its true essence.
As part of her residency at the Fondation Fiminco, I-Fang Lin will continue her project Nobody KnowsMy Name, which explores the commodification of the female body through professions ranging from funeral strippers and professional mourners to beel nut sellers, thereby revealing the relationships between visibility and invisibility, exhibition and erasure. Drawing on choreographic and theatrical tools, NKMN elevates gestures that are both trivial and jubilant, transforming intimacy into stage material, and the gaze into an act of deconstruction.
