Célia Stroom
Célia Stroom creates physical and performative pieces that blend choreography, polyphony, textile art, and ethnography. Inspired by medieval music, dance, textile conservation, and the landscapes she has traversed from Georgia to Kyrgyzstan, she designs hand-stitched scenographies featuring faceless figures, cabinets of curiosities, and shifting polyphonies. Founder of the performance label Kunstwollen and the international production platform Heroinē, she coordinates the nomadic ecofeminist festival The Enclosed Garden. She is also the curator of the Kokto art centre in Athens.
As part of his residency at the Fondation Fiminco, the artist wishes to develop his Vocalscape project, a total work of art combining acousmatic composition, polyphonic singing, textile installation, poetry, dance and costumes, which will constitute an immersive space activated by the audience.
