Asma Ben Aïssa
Asma Ben Aissa is a visual artist based in Tunis whose practice weaves a dialogue between architecture, textiles and intimate narratives. She explores the memory of domestic spaces and the artisanal gestures passed down between women. Her works, composed of threads, transparencies and folded structures, question the boundary between interior and exterior, visible and buried. She constructs sensitive landscapes in which memory, matter and architecture overlap.
During her residency at the Fondation Fiminco, Asma Ben Aïssa aims to explore the deep connections between textiles, domestic space and personal memory. Drawing inspiration from traditional Tunisian storage objects such as chests, wardrobes and benches, she does not seek to represent them, but rather to question what they envelop and preserve: gestures, memories and silent knowledge. Through practices such as folding, embroidery, dyeing and sewing.
